Flower essences are essential in my practice as something I use with clients during treatment and give to clients to use in between sessions.
These remedies are wonderful for healing at an energetic and emotional level and often yield amazing results.
There are several ways to use flower essences in practice, and I will share below some of the ways that I prefer to use these amazing remedies.
What are flower essences?
Flower essences are remedies based on vibrational medicine. They are made from specific plants and flowers and are vibrationally turned into remedies. The remedies are made mostly by the sun and water method that was originally set out by Dr Bach. This method is where the flowers are placed into a glass bowl and left in the sunlight for 24 hours or more so that the energy of the flower is infused into the water. Different plants and flowers carry different energies that work to heal at an energetic and emotional level. For example, the remedy white chestnut is concerned with unresolved, circling thoughts and it brings about a calm and clear mind.
The different types of flower essences
There are many different types of flower remedies available now and more are being developed each year. The most well-known flower essences are the Bach remedies developed in the twenties by Dr Edward Bach a Harley Street physician. Dr Bach became interested in healing emotional issues which led him to develop the set of thirty-eight flower remedies.
Some of the other well-known essences include Australian Bush flower essences, Californian essences, Himalayan essences, Alaskan essences and many more! I use many different essences in my therapy practice both in the work I do as a Kinesiologist and as healing support for people to take in between sessions.
How to use flower essences
I use flower essences in many ways both for myself and in my practice when I work with clients.
Most remedies come as stock remedies; this means they are very potent and can be diluted and made into the remedy that you take.
- Adding to water / water bottle
Simply add a few drops of the stock remedy, four is the usual dose to a water bottle and sip throughout the day. I mostly test my clients for exact dosage and the best way to take remedies for themselves.
- Making a remedy bottle
You can make your own remedy dropper bottle by taking a dropper bottle and adding 4-7 drops of the remedy to the bottle (I will often test the amount of remedy I need for a client and add accordingly). You then fill the bottle with either half spring water and half alcohol such a vodka or brandy or colloidal silver. The alcohol or colloidal silver preserves the remedy, so it does not bacterially degrade. Once done this bottle is ready to use. Generally, you should take 4-7 drops AM and PM but again, I will test clients for exact amounts and timings.
- Adding to a bath
A nice way of absorbing a remedy is by adding it to your bath or foot bath. I like to do this regularly with specific remedies for auric protection such as Bach Walnut or then Australian Bush Remedy Angelsword. However, you can work with all remedies this way in order to absorb them in a different way.
- Spraying / Sweeping in the aura.
This is a great idea if you are visiting an environment that might be challenging to your energy field for example a hospital or where there are many people, gatherings, or if going into a meeting, exam, driving tests etc. Protective essences like the ones I mention above can be helpful sprayed into the aura or around your environment if someone is visiting your home or workplace. I use essences and spray my treatment room before and after treating clients as part of my energetic housekeeping routine.
- Applying to areas of the body / energy system such as acupuncture points
Essences can also be applied to specific areas of the body such as energy centres or chakras or specific meridian points. This allows the remedy to act with more potency for example if a remedy is placed on the kidney meridian it is quickly recognised by the channel and gives it an energetic boost as well as boosting physical kidney function.
- Adding to face or body creams
Adding a small amount of the remedy to a skin cream is also an effective way of using flower essences. You can now purchase the Bach Five Flower or Rescue Remedy as a cream.
- Treatments
In Kinesiology treatments I use my flower essence kits pretty much all the time. The small vials are placed on the body wherever I am directed and carry the vibrational frequencies to heal whatever is needed to be healed.
