Health Kinesiology

Health Kinesiology (HK) is an holistic therapy that is concerned with balancing the body and energy systems. Health Kinesiology communicates with your body by using a technique called muscle testing which helps reveal where there is imbalance and identifies how balance can be restored.

In a HK session I may work to identify allergies, or chemical imbalance, release psychological or emotional stress, re-balance meridians and chakras or other parts of your energy system, and advise on nutrition or other lifestyle issues.

More about Health Kinesiology

Background
Applied Kinesiology was developed by Dr George Goodheart and is a system of applying muscle testing diagnostically and therapeutically to different aspects of health care. Today the name Applied Kinesiology refers to the present system as taught by the international college of Applied Kinesiology. A number of different types of Kinesiology have evolved including Touch for Health and Health Kinesiology – the modalities I have trained in.

What is Health Kinesiology?
Health Kinesiology could be defined as a system of natural healthcare which combines manual muscle testing with the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), energy balancing and a host of other healing modalities.

Health Kinesiology is holistic
The system is truly holistic working with the inter relationship between body structure, chemistry, the mind, emotions and energy systems. Kinesiology assessment uses muscle testing to allow the body to reveal precisely where there is imbalance. Furthermore Kinesiology utilises a range of gentle yet powerful corrections and treatments in order to bring about significant change and balance.

Balance & imbalance
Our bodies work hard to maintain homeostasis or put another way our bodies work hard to remain balanced. We can see evidence of this when we consider the myriad of functions our body performs every second we are alive. Many factors have an impact upon this balance and often the body and its many systems become compromised and this is when illness may result. Kinesiology and other holistic therapies work to restore the individual balance of an organism in order to restore health.

Acupuncture / acupressure points
In a Health Kinesiology session I will work with the body’s meridian energy system by gently holding points on the body which will stimulate and balance the meridians. Gentle touch is used instead of the needles used by acupuncturists. Generally people will experience warmth and a sense of well-being during this process.

There are 14 major meridians in the body, 10 of which correspond with the major organs in the body i.e. stomach, spleen, heart, small intestine, bladder, kidney, gall bladder, liver, large intestine, lung, then we have the circulation and triple warmer meridians which are involved with immune function and finally the central and governing meridians which are involved with the overall body/brain function.

The Meridians are pathways that distribute energy around the body and it is vitally important that these are balanced in order for us to be healthy. The Meridian System was clearly identified by Traditional Chinese Medicine around 5000 years ago. Charts detailing 14 pathways in the human body have been found, later research using radioactive isotopes injected into the body have confirmed the existence of these pathways to be exactly where these charts depicted. Increasing evidence in anthropology suggests that our stone age predecessors and also the ancient Egyptians knew about the meridians system and utilised it as a means of keeping themselves healthy.

Some of the things used in a Kinesiology session include;

  • Magnets
  • Crystals
  • Homeopathic remedies
  • Body biochemicals
  • Hormones
  • Essential oils
  • Vitamins & minerals
  • Allergens
  • Herbal remedies
  • Thought patterns
  • Words
  • Colours
  • Light touch

Vitamins & minerals
The body requires a whole host of nutrients including vitamins and minerals to complete the complex tasks it undertakes for us each day. In some cases, and for different reasons it may be that we are not getting enough of a specific substance in our diet and as a result we become deficient. With this in mind and where appropriate I often recommend certain vitamins, minerals, herbal remedies or homeopathic medicines to a client after a session.

My training
I originally qualified in Health Kinesiology in 2003, and have also studied some Touch for Health Kinesiology. Since completing my training I have developed my own style of working as a Kinesiologist utilising the many skills I have learned along the way and adapting these according to the needs of my clients. I am a full member of The Kinesiology Federation in the UK and undertake continued professional development training annually.

Testimonials

You have done some amazing work!

” Just to give you an update. My hand and wrist are feeling much better. The swelling has gone down and I am able to touch each finger with my thumb. There is some twisting mobility and a slight movement with the hand going backwards. The pain is easing a bit too. Considering it’s been the 4th day since the cast has been removed its pretty good. I felt I had to sleep a lot in the last few days. You have done some amazing work! Thank you so much :-)”
